HOW TO FIX A SLIP
Rain has had a huge impact on our roads and highways this season, especially in our more rugged parts of Ohio. As of late April, 62 landslides have occurred in just one of our twelve district's highways. Due to this being a more common issue in some of our districts, we felt this infographic would help educate all of our staff what our engineering and construction offices do to repair these natural disasters. By educating all of our staff, we are better able to communicate with each other and the people we serve.

This graphic was featured in the Ohio Department of Transportation's monthly magazine, Transcript, in which I oversee the layout design and production. Transcript is utilized as a mechanism in which our central office can communicate with our twelve district offices to share news-worthy stories and accomplishments.

Thinking about the traditional layout design of magazines, the illustrations and numbered circles were created in Adobe Illustrator CC using the 'Shape Builder Tool' among others. They were all then brought into Adobe InDesign CC to construct the layout design. The text and header were also added in Adobe InDesign CC.
With this infographic being placed in a magazine layout, it was important to keep the design simple and compliment the article it was paired with. The lines and shaped needed to be smooth in order to be as straightforward as possible. This type of modern design also speaks to my personal aesthetic that I prefer in the work that I create.
