SNIPS & FOLDS is an exploration of paper as sculpture, where paper is molded and manipulated into various forms while still retaining the structure of a conventional book. Inspired by ‘The Elements of Sculpture’ by Herbert George, this book presents how manipulation of the paper material expresses the significance of each element in sculpture by using simple geometric shapes. The elements presented in this book include texture, colour, movement and light. The last work presents the idea of a sculpture as a puzzle.

The works are influenced by the techniques of Kirigami, a form of paper art which involves folding and cutting paper to create forms and shapes similar to Origami. It is meant to be displayed, standing with pages opened in a circular fashion, forming a 360 degrees panoramic view. The entire book will be transformed into a sculpture-like structure with no beginning or end. The resultant structure allow audience to view the entire book and its content as a whole, which is similar to how one view and study a sculpture.
