For a class project we were tasked to create a double truck magazine ad that features important aspects of the contributions of an important art director. I picked Herb Lubalin. The trim size of the double truck is to be 16x10” and it is to be flush mounted on a black board with a process statement attached to the back. The process statement must include evidence of research.
The Objectives was for us to acquire an in depth knowledge of the major movements in design and architecture, and be able to identify all major styles and trends. Also to identify the main visual characteristics of a variety of graphic areas in history, including type faces, logos, logotype, borders, and other embellishment devices, and apply these to assignment solutions. Importantly to gain an understanding of appreciation and be able to recognize outstanding designers. We must also be able to recognize and describe the areas of significant historic interest to the graphic design field in western and other cultures.
