WORSHIP is an ongoing series focused on various obsessions such as icons, physical addiction, weapons, etc.
The act of worshiping something is to look at that “thing” as an almost perfect entity that is beyond understanding - to show a reverence for it and honor it in some fashion - some things such as mobile phones, games or weapons can be deceiving in regard to the idea of being worshipped, however, the absolute focus it takes to use them and the emotional tolls they evoke can arguably be categorized as a kind of obsession for those objects–in a way, the objects themselves become deities that pertain a sense of control over the user.

Stylistically, I purposely chose to use “vector art” style or “flat-style” graphics to evoke a sense of classic propaganda posters in a slightly more modern state. The images are almost cartoon-like, but the iconography of the subjects can be understood easily by most viewers.

Some of the work comes from older graphics I’ve either never shown anyone, or taken from pieces and transformed into this new series. I believe this goes along with the idea of “worship” in the sense that there will always be something to worship and obsess over - the essence of that idea remains, but the optics may change over time.

An interesting thing about vector graphics is the absolute perfection one can achieve when producing art. As the pieces were being drawn or more-so digitally constructed, I purposely chose not to refine some elements to add a kind of human touch - some of the pieces are not exactly centered, some of the line work is not finished, etc.

I hope you enjoy the work and I hope to continue along this path for a while - at least until I decide to worship another program to create something new : )
