Aesthetic Media Project: Reaching Out, Pulling Back

CART Multimedia: Aesthetic Media Project
Video: Reaching Out, Pulling Back
Song: "Aria" By Oh Hiroshima

Design Choices
I wanted to use this song because of its atmosphere, progression and how dynamic it is, so I based my video around that, changing the coloring, and the general movement on the screen for each part of the song. Though I never decided on a solid theme, I tried including a lot of subtle symbolism into my video. With the color correction, and the way I made the characters look downcast, to match with the mood with the song in the first half. I created a sort of transformation between the animated scenes and footage to symbolize them ignoring their worries and wanting something better in life, and them being submerged in water and reach out later to show how they struggle and hesitate to go for it.
Conclusion
I feel like this project really forced me to incorporate all I've learned throughout the year, from planning out my calendar, which was vital because of my animations, to what I've picked up in After Effects. I feel like this project, more so than everything else I've done this year, allowed me to grow into myself and express what I've wanted to do in my works and I can confidently say that I'm actually proud of what I've made.
