Animal Farm - Penguin design awards
This is my entry for Penguin design awards 2018. The project was to create a new book cover for George Orwell's novel 'Animal Farm'. Based around the theme of the book, it signifies communism and the struggles of dictatorship.
Throughout the books storyline, elements of history have been vaguely referenced. The 1917 Russian revolution is widely know to be the main source of inspiration used by the author, George Orwell. In my design I have taken elements of dated propaganda posters from this time period and used it to portray the books hidden messages within it's cover.
Subtle references to the details within the story have been added to achieve the correct message and feel for the books synopsis. White paint, Pig's hoof and paper textures all add to the rustic and country feel of the books direct theme.
