This chaise longue consists of a single sinuous surface; it is a social Möbius strip.

The concept draws inspiration from the work of Thomas Heatherwick, specifically his Boiler Suit and his Little Hampton Cafe. The waves of weaved metal in the Boiler Suit informed the curves of my design and the layered sections of the Little Hampton Cafe can be seen in the wooden slats that make up the surface of my chaise.
The form and idea also reference the work Loopita by Victor Aleman, curving the surface around to provide a social environment. This has become the most important part of the design, providing space for three or more people to relax and engage with each other in comfort.

This final model was made in 10:1 scale.
