Nike Carbon - Wearable Concept

As someone who has always been addicted to sports and curious about the future, I set out to imagine how these two personal passions converge.
This project is the result of an ever ongoing personal investigation on the uses of IoT and wearables and how can technology directly help us reach our goals and be better athletes.

Among many ideas and possibilities, I chose to imagine how recently-developed technologies, like micro-sensors and smart threads, will blend into our daily physical activities and convert our bodies into a new medium, an interface, in the near future.

What is the next step after the smart watches and wristband fitness trackers?

As I tried to answer this question, the concept Nike Carbon: The Future of Working Out was born.

Carbon is a real-time full body tracker suit. Packed with sensors that can recognize movements and connected to a synced mobile, it can help athletes keep up with their training routine, see how they are evolving and re-watch all the movements they’ve made during a session, for example.

There are two internal pockets in the suit. One where the "Tracker", which is responsible for storing all the information and charge the garment, goes in. And another one, designed to store mobiles or music players.

Inside a synced app, an AI assistant brings insights to help the users with better posture and estimates how much muscle and fat they are gaining/losing, based on information collected by the internal sensors.

The dedicated app also helps the athlete prepare a workout program based on their recent performances.

The clothing is comprised of three layers:

1// Stretching Fabric
2// Sensors (detecting micro-position and orientation)
3// Smart Threads (connects and charges the sensors)
