Evian is a brand of mineral water coming from several sources near Évian-les-Bains, on the south shore of Lake Geneva. Today, Evian is owned by Danone, a French multinational corporation. In popular culture, Evian is portrayed as a luxury and expensive bottled water.
Brief
Make proposals for Evian prestige bottles considering the following 3 determinants -
• Identity packaging
• A container that meets ergonomic expectations and consumer usage
• A strong environmental concern

Initial question
What can Evian bring to its consumers of large format bottles? (i.e. 1.5L - 2L variants of evian prestige bottles)

After talking to a diverse group of Evian prestige 1.5L consumers, we came to a conclusion that 95% of these consumers purchase this format to be consumed at home.

Bottles were designed as a portable solution to consume water on the go. Why should we design a bottle for consumption at a static location like home?
Re-evaluated brief
Design a container for Evian prestige 1.5L format to be consumed at home following the above mentioned determinants.
PROBLEMS

1. Not a convenient solution for all members of the family.
It gets very difficult for children & old people to pour water from a 1.5L bottle. This makes them helpless and dependent on other members of the family
2. Very difficult to carry
People usually purchase a 6 pack of 1.5L bottles (i.e. 9 liters) for the family. It is very difficult to carry 9L from the grocery store to a car trunk/home.
3. Low recycle percentage
All the bottles made by Evian are 100% recyclable but among them only 20% are actually recycled due to various loop holes in the process.

2 forms were finalized for the container. One of them is -

N-arc
also called negative arc, which gives a sleek & light feeling due to the form going inward from re-order point. Re-order point/line is a part of form transition instead of a graphic element. When water reaches that point, the family has to re-order the unit using an online service operated by Evian called Evianchezvous.
P-arc
also called positive  arc, which gives a smooth & soft feeling due to the form going outward from re-order point. With single hand use idea, the water will flow with the help of natural gravity when the retractable mechanism is pushed backward.

Both these forms were designed considering the minimal  approach of Evian towards the prestige collection. These bottles designed under this collection are so pure & transparent, they where called Evian's naked bottles during the time of it launch. Components, assembly & materials

1.& 2. Replaceable container (PET)
The component containing the water will be made of Polyethylene terephthalate with a 2 mm wall thickness. Its a one time use container, which will be replaced through evianchezvous when ordered.
3.& 4. Retractable cap mechanism (PP)
The threaded cap and the one hand push friendly mechanism are made with polypropylene and 1 mm rubber sheets. These are permanent components delivered by Evian on first purchase and are meant to be re-used. The rubber sheets are used to seal the water follow immediately and avoid unwanted leakage.
5. Holder (316 Stainless steel)
The holder is mounted to a wall with 4 M5 standard screw. It is made with a premium stainless steel alloy containing 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. The rods protruding out of the base mount are used to hold the container in an upright position facilitating the flow of water with the help of gravity.
6. Aluminium seal
A very thin sheet of aluminium is used to seal the container. It acts like a temporary cap & is removed when the mechanism is attached to container.
Cycle of the product

1. Order the product for the first time from Evianchezvous website by creating your personal account.
2.& 3. The product is loaded into a delivery van from the warehouse & is on its way.
4. The product is delivered with all the components.
5. Re-order the single use water container as and when required.
6. When the container is being replaced, the delivery guy will collect the empty container.
7. These empty containers will then be transported to a recycling facility resulting in 100% recycled output. (i.e. An effort towards a better tomorrow)
The mechanism

1. Water will not flow when the cap is in stationary position.
2. Water will start flowing when the retractable component is pushed.
The details

1. A small cut out in the front helps in visual co-ordination with the water output hole behind it.
2. The surface to push the mechanism is an arc, which replicated the arc formed by a human hand while holding the glass.
2 types of holders were made to position the product at maximum places possible in a house -

1. Wall mount holder
This holder has a flat base plate to mount it on a wall, This make sure the product is parallel to the wall.
2. Table mount holder
This holder has a V shaped base used to mount it on a table edge. Table is a common example used here, This holder can be used to mount the product on any perpendicular edge.
