Destroy Student Debt

Student debt in the UK has become a crisis, with many students, mainly in England and Wales leaving education with debts that can be over £50,000. The total amount of student debt in the UK recently shot past £100 billion and is still rising. This campaign aims to reignite the conversation, debate and protests around student debt and free education that began in 2010 and were almost successful in getting MPs to throw out university tuition fees.
For this design brief I was challenged to use graphic design for a cause, to motivate, educate and effect change. After researching into several causes I chose to design a campaign to reignite the conversation, debate and protest over the current student debt crisis in the UK, brought on by the introduction of tuition fees. I then developed a five-poster campaign based around the idea of destroying student debt. The main imagery of these posters involves items literally destroying the words student debt, using this destruction of typography as a metaphor for the wiping out of student debt.
