農曆新年是華人文化中最熱鬧的節慶之一，除夕夜人們陸續回鄉，與平日不會相見的親戚們相聚。除了一起吃團圓飯、守歲、放鞭炮、發紅包等節慶習俗之外，撲克、花牌、麻將等等遊戲，也是現代過年聯繫感情常見的家族活動。有些人也會在過年期間大買彩券、簽樂透，或者親戚間小賭怡情，象徵一年好運的開始。

福爆製造機 Cracapacitor 是一款為農曆新年設計，結合了爆竹、遊戲與賭博元素，以電容器（capacitor）作為爆竹（cracker）的闔家歡樂互動桌遊裝置。

Chinese New Year is one of the most popular festivals of Chinese culture. People return home on Chinese New Year's Eve to get together with relatives. In addition to eating reunion dinner, staying-up, letting off firecrackers, giving and taking red envelopes, gambling games, such as pokers and Mahjong, are also common family activities to promote relationships in modern Chinese New Year. Some also buy lottery tickets or have a small gamble between relatives during Chinese New Year, symbolizing the beginning of good luck of the whole year.

Cracapacitor is an interactive board game device that uses capacitor as cracker and is designed for Chinese New Year, combining the element of firecracker, game and gamble.

新年與親友團圓，正是拿出福爆製造機的極佳時機。玩家們輪流將裝有電容器的「爆竹」插入裝置中，插入的瞬間裝置會判定是否有觸動「引信」。若是沒有觸動，則輪到下一位玩家遊戲；若是觸動了，裝置上的爆竹將會一口氣引爆，帶給大家「福爆」，增進親友的感情。

The reunion with friends and relatives in the New Year is an excellent opportunity to use the Cracapacitor. Players insert the firecrackers with capacitors into the device in turn. At the moment of insertion, the device will judge whether it has triggered the fuze. If not, it is the time for the next player to play. If the fuse is triggered on, the firecrackers on the device will explode in a row, bringing the fortune explosion to everyone.

與鞭炮的爆炸呼應，電容器爆炸是許多電子工程師的共同經驗，電容器的外型也與新年使用的鞭炮同為圓柱狀。這些幽默的巧合使我們選取了電容器作為主要元素進行設計發想。

Related to the explosion of firecrackers, the capacitor explosion is the common experience of many electronic engineers. The appearance of capacitors as well as the firecrackers used in the Chinese New Year is also cylindrical. The interesting coincidence led us to choose capacitor as the main element for this device.

在造型上，擷取新年的元素，並且以電子龐克（Cyberpunk）風格進行設計，在視覺體驗上營造刺激的感受。以傳統鞭炮串的形象為造型基礎，使用了單字春聯、爆竹、紅色等新年元素；選用金屬作為主要的材質，並且將零件與導線外露，成為視覺的一部分，更能體現危險刺激的感覺。

Regarding the shape, we use the Chinese New Year elements and design this device in the style of cyberpunk. Based on the image of a traditional firecracker string, the Chinese New Year elements such as the New Year couplets, firecrackers, and the color of red are used. The use of metal as the main material and the exposure of parts and wires are part of the vision, which is more indicative of danger and excitement.
