These book covers are entirely typographic versions of three of The Series of Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket. Included in this series are Book 2, The Reptile Room; Book 10, The Slippery Slope; and Book 11, The Grim Grotto. The original covers are primarily based upon illustration, so my approach was a bit of a sketch.
All of the type and illustration on the covers was designed and vectorized entirely by me (except for the body copy on the back of each cover). The layout and type treatment of each cover remains consistent throughout the series. The different border illustrations on each cover are used to delineate the books from one another. The border illustration is indicative of the name and content of the book itself.
