I wanted to express my thoughts on the cultural phenomenon where a person from a certain culture is impacted by the influences from another culture. I felt like my assimilation into the Canadian society was rather drastic. I was impacted in many ways: from the scarcity of Korean friends to the language I think and dream in. Fundamentally, I painted the extruding parts of the sculptures white because I wanted to show how the environment and the surrounding culture could influence a person. The diversity of shapes and color represents the diversity of people that can be influenced by another culture and the environment.
