For this project we were to create a a handbook for printing. We had to look up definitions, find samples, and bind the book ourselves.
For this project my concept and process where linked. I would think about the next step I needed to do and then work on it, then I would think about the next thing, and so on.The first thing I did was find an image that I wanted to incorporate in my design. After I found the right image I then began the process of typing out the definitions for the words she gave us on our project sheet. Then with the definitions done, I began the layout. Once the layout was done I printed my book out. I then took a exacto knife and cut out the pages of my book, and rubber-banded them together so that the pages where even while I drilled the binding holes. When I finished drilling the holes, I took a needle and thread and sowed the pages together. I then took some mattboard and cut out what will be the hard cover for my book. I took some wrapping paper I had and glued it to the hard cover. Once that dried I took a small piece of the rapping paper and covered the sown part of my pages, then  glued them into the spine of the hard cover. After that dried I added the image of the leaves on the inside covers. Luckily I knew someone in the printing business so I contacted him to see if I could get some samples. When I got the samples I took a circle die cut to each one, and glued them into the circle I made for them. I was then done with my handbook!
I really enjoyed learning how to bind a hardcover book. There are various ways that you can bind a book and it was fun getting to go through the process.
