We were given a brief to design an artist book celebrating 100 years of D’Arcy Thompson
On growth and form.
This publication presents D’Arcy Thompson ideas about how the form of organisms can be explained by geometrical transformations.
In his book on growth and form he showed that gross variation form between related species could be modelled by the consistent deformation of a sheet.
In this theory of transformation D’Arcy Thompson uses mathematics, tha basic tool for natural scientists. This publication, uses type, the basic tool for graphic designer to explore how typography can express Thompson’s ideas.
This project has been chosen by the curator of D’Arcy thompson museum to be part of the permanent collection.
