One may not expect design to be associated in any way with a microscopic structure like a ribosome. Some may not even have heard of ribosomes! However, in this project that explores my identity as a designer, I choose ribosomes to describe myself – for I find the work mechanism and qualities of ribosomes to be surprisingly relatable to me in the way I approach my design work.

Ribosome is the protein factory within cells; an essential structure for survival. It matches genetic information with the right amino acids, producing the right strand of protein with specific structure, property and function. I believe design, too, is an irreplaceable component in the world. As a designer, it is my role to take in information, process it and select the right elements to be crafted into a piece of design in its right form and function. I am the Design Ribosome.
