Nissan is always pushing the boundaries and leads the way with innovation, the LEAF is a perfect example of this so I wanted to create a memorable and emotionally connected experience with the target audience. These people are ‘technology seekers’ - early adopters and technophiles, they fall in love with technology for the fun things you can do with them and again, its emotional connection with the user.
From this I decided to build an augmented reality app for smartphones that would immerse the user in a virtual world and the LEAF would take center stage. I envisioned the ability to freely walk around the detailed 3D image of the car, zooming in and out by moving your phone closer and further ways from it. You would literally be able to place the LEAF anywhere you wished, allowing people to upload their own photos of the LEAF to Nissan’s website, Facebook page or their Twitter page for the chance for one person to win a Nissan LEAF with the best photo. People would get excited about the potential for sharing photos they helped create not only to Nissan but also to their own Facebook and Twitter pages, this engagement will be key in the user’s friends to want to experience the app for themselves.
