The Flautist is a business card project conceptualised for a professional flute player, who hopes to touch people's hearts with every piece he performs. Sound is produced from a flute when a breath of air passes through multiple holes that are covered, causing vibrations of air that creates a series of pitches, forming the basis of a melody. On the front of the card, ripples expanding from the holes mimic the traveling of sound from the flute, and also echos the sincerity the flautist brings into every performance. The back of the card focuses on the "O", which is part of the client's last name, but also looks like a hole on a flute. The type logo on the front shows the "F" extending into the shape of a typical six-hole Chinese flute. The treatment of Spot UV-printing on the ripples further adds dimensionality to the surface of the card.
