For Whom the Bell Tolls
Our first warm up was to put a bell somewhere it would have meaning to us.
I choose the skeleton's rib cage. I was thinking of how a bell rings until it breaks just like how eventually the heart stops beating. The saying is your heart skips a beat when in love, while in your mind church bells are ringing. However, the ringing of church bells not only means a wedding is taking place but, it can also mean a funeral in progress.
I like this project because it forced me to consider where and why I choose my location for the bell, as well as if it would hinder anyone.
A Study of Tea
Mapping Memory
This was a project where we had to go to a location of our choosing and sit for an hour just watching the location. What is there, what is taking place, what we feel, and what we were thinking at the time. Then we were to create something based on what we remember from the experience. I choose to sit in Tea Grotto and watch. I noticed the customers purchasing their tea. I also noticed little details, the grain of the wood, rust stains in the metal, and air bubbles from the cement counter. I decided to create a piece from tea stains. Tea spills, drips, drops and even tea rings were used in my design. I used chai, green, white, and even black teas to create my image. I enjoyed creating my work and would love to do something similar for a longer amount of time.
Relaxing with a Good Book
Sound
This project was a little more difficult as sound as an art form is not my specialty nor my comfort zone. It was interesting, however. The sound is of pages turning followed by an increasing rainstorm. These are two things that make me feel relaxed. I was criticized for it sounding too violent thus it was not as relaxing for the audience to listen too. So in retrospect, I would probably turn the pages slower next time.

How if feels to be inanimate
The goal was to create emotion through the use of the inanimate. I felt I sort of achieved my goal but I also take my peers critiques to heart and would probably try to make it more janky next time.
Solid Ground for Faith
Impossible Project
The assignment was to create a project that could not be made or done. Whether it be from the laws of nature, physics, political, or moral it can not be done. Information on the project can be found above on my proposal. I enjoyed this project because it caused me to think about what I can't do and why I would try to do it even though I know logically I can not do it. What would be my reasoning, is the question that would be asked.
Air Granite
Impossible Project Part 2
The project was to create a video representing the impossible project with very possible parameters. So for an one hour and ten minutes of preparing and filming, mixed with twenty minutes of editing, I ended up with twenty-four seconds of video. I am very pleased with the finished product, though I would add more cityscapes, deserts, and forests to encourage the feel of a traveling stone.
I really enjoyed this section dedicated to time. It allowed me to consider the many different facets of time and gave me insights into the use of time. I would definitely like to do a few more projects like this again. Video and sound are not in my repertoire, as I prefer 2D media styles, but I would not be opposed to doing some more work in this area. I learned that filming and editing can be fun but are also very difficult to get just right. Some projects did not turn out how I expected, however, I do not see them as failures. Rather, I see them as stepping stones to better pieces of art.
