LiftUp 26one
LiftUp 26one is a short project, finished during my internship at designaffairs in Shanghai, which aims to redesign the sale pages and packaging for a unique tool: The LiftUp 26one multi-bit driver. As with many such tools, the bits store in the handle. But instead of accessing them by unscrewing a cap, bits pop out with the push of a button. Pressing a button on the handle releases a spring-loaded cartridge that contains 13 double-ended bits. Each end is different so the tool offers 26 options. The Ultra-Driver is available in trade-specific configurations with different combinations of bits.

Screwdrivers are often kept in toolboxes hidden away in the corners of houses and garages; and in turn they tend to be kept out of mind. The time taken to remember where different tools are, go through the depths of garages to get them often take a lot of time.

Many screwdrivers with their semantics and their packaging often creates an intimidating perception, particularly with novice buyers and unprofessional users.  They are often overdesigned and created with low-cost. Besides, screwdriver head, handles and bits create a disconnect between the elements that make up the product.
The screwdriver and its packaging were designed to fit in the home as a elegant decorative product which suits the environment it lives and is used in, with particular focus on the urban individual who uses this tool infrequently in short time.

The semantics provides a sense of curiousness about the functions of product, with care that the elements were handy, approachable to use and hold, and suitable to live in the home as any other home based product.
The idea started as some discussions with international team during my internship in designaffairs in Shanghai. In there, we thought about how to promote the product of our client and how to catch customers' eyes. Finally, we found that putting a few high quality pictures and 3D animations on pages and packaging is a good method.
The LiftUp 26one is packaged in a recycled cardboard box with the high quality picture of the product showing the content within it.
The LiftUp 26one magazine bit holder features 13 double bits, thus combining 26 of the most common drive profiles in a single tool. Bit selection, removal and return are easily carried out at the touch of a button. Moreover, the novel packaging design provides a clear overview of the bit range while at the same time protecting it. The ergonomic SoftFinish handle enables a very good transmission of force, making it possible to also loosen stuck screws.
