I did the city flag of Honolulu, Hawaii. In the original flag I thought there was way too much detail and it was way too complex, so I wanted to make it a little more simple. My first plan was to take the mountain range and make that my center point, but I thought it would make it too complex and (as you told me) scenery doesn't look very good on flags., so I took the shield in the center of the originals and made it the center part of my flag. I thought this was a good move because the shield had the main colors of the flag and it made it look more simple.The star in the middle represents the Star of Hawaii. The yellow represents the sun because it is always very sunny in Hawaii. The green represents the army because the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Air Force are all headquartered in Hawaii.
