Foam for football referees
If you have seen at least one match of the World Cup 2014, you probably noticed a new tool in the arsenal of referees: a can of foam. And if you're not a football expert, you probably wondered where it came from? In football, when the foul is committed outside the penalty area, a penalty kick is awarded, and the opponent's team at this point should stand no closer than 9.15 m from the place where the violation of the rules was committed. Sounds pretty simple, and in the old days the referee could estimate the distance visually or even measure it at the request of the beating team. Nevertheless, for the first time in the world championship referees not only measure distance, but also draw the foam line in 9,15 m.
