The Book
As many of you might have read, the book "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou is incredible. I fell in love with her story and how even amidst everything she being trough she was able to fight back and thrive. It is an inspiration, and I will take the lessons I learned to motivate throughout my life.
The Design
Before reading the book, I had a raw idea of using a decoration of stone-bird and even took plenty of pictures with it in diverse scenarios. But then I read the book and found out this idea wasn't going to work. The book is not meant to be happy, as my bird looks. So I designed the book cover first designing the objects with illustrator, printing and cutting them and then it became a DIY of a toy that could show all my elements in the same picture interacting with each other. The result you can see below:
