SKS approached npk designs with a request to develop new innovative products that would sit within their exisiting bike pump and mudguard line up.

Before putting pen to paper we analysed SKS, their competitors and the cycling market and came to the conclusion that SKS were losing market share because their catalogue of products was too confusing and overwhelming. It wasn't obvious to consumers which product they should buy if they were a mountain biker or  a commuter in an urban environment.

 We put our heads together and using our combined knowledge of bikes and cyclists came up with a proposal to divide the SKS product catalogue into three segments. We used personas that the SKS team could relate to and mood boards to show what products in these segments would look and feel like. 

 Once the segments of Mountain, Road and Allroad were identified we got on with the job of designing award winning products which have gone on to be best sellers.
Early concept work that I was involved with led to the development and manufacture of a range of products for SKS including the red dot award winngin Diago and Raceday mini-pumps.
