Voyage is a flotilla of hundreds of colour changing oversized floating origami 'paper boats', that creates a strong artistic gesture on the site. It’s a piece of art that establishes a conversation with the surrounding space, and changes configuration, size and arrangement in relation to the context.
Voyage creatively transforms waterfronts, expanding the physical space of rivers, lakes, canals and waters of different cities and places. Since 2012, it has travelled from Canary Wharf, London, UK to Baltimore, US; Bilbao, Spain; Scottsdale, Arizona, US; Canberra, Australia; Irvine, Scotland; Salford Quays, UK; Blenheim Palace, UK; Metz, France; Dubai, UAE; Kew Gardens, UK; each time adapting layout and size, based on the specific location.
The artists' aim is to inspire people to think creatively about the spaces around them, inviting playful and social engagement in public space.
Media architect Claudio Benghi and light artist Gloria Ronchi joined together in 2006 to form Aether & Hemera, an interdisciplinary collaboration that seeks “to research the aesthetic challenges of light and its power to trigger emotions and response, creating a sense of identity or setting a mood.
Passers-by can interact with the flotilla until February 15 between dusk and 2am each day to change colours and patterns by connecting their mobile phone to the Voyage Wi-Fi network.
Aether & Hemera's artistic vision is to "provoke memories, explore aesthetic interactions, and to elicit feelings of connective human experiences in a required-to-participate audience."

Colourful 'paper boats’ on the water invites everyone to make a transition from reality to imagination, reliving childhood memories and embracing our freedom; blurring the lines between the real and hyper-real, ‘Voyage’ invites the thoughts of the visitors to cross the borders of their imagination.
