‘Breastfeeding Gracefully’
Breastfeeding apparel awareness campaign

An infographic designed as a supporting collateral for research on breastfeeding apparel. This project was done under
Ms. Lavdeep Singh, professor at NIFT, Kangra.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommend that babies be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of their life. Most women, especially young mothers, are quite uneasy at the thought of nursing their babies in public because they do not want to expose their breasts and cannot find clothes that are well-designed for breastfeeding. It is this kind of hassle that makes new mothers who breastfed consider clothing, especially in terms of functionality, comfort, and aesthetics.
For eg- Nursing bras either do not correlate with typical bra sizes or are unattractive to wear. Likewise, most of the available options for tops are button-up shirts are found unattractive and cumbersome while breastfeeding or large t-shirts which cannot be worn all the time. Therefore, this campaign aims at :-

The need to find clothing that is conducive to breastfeeding for new mothers.
The infographic was made in order to raise awareness about this issue at both medical and fashion schools. The brief was to make the information resonate with the audience in the simplest way possible and to keep the overall design simple and easy to understand in one go.
