'Raju' : A Musical Experiment With Sensors

This project was about creating experimental music. The end result was a band of an electric guitar, tabla and dholak played by stepper motors and "vocals" created by objects hitting glass controlled by ultrasonic sensors.
After the initial dabbling with sensors and figuring them out, my group was assigned with the task of creating the vocals for this band. Dubbed as Raju, our vocal instrument consisted of the ultrasonic sensors, motors, keychains, and glass. The ultrasonics ran the motors which were attached to the keychains, which in turns hit the glass to produce different sounds according to the speed of rotation. The ultrasonic sensor was used in order to make Raju more interactive, giving the user a sense of control.
