Writing for Change

San Francisco Writing for Change
San Francisco Writing for Change is an annual writer’s conference. It is a networking event that brings together agents, editors, and authors to educate writers on how to get their work published.

Role
This was a rebranding project that I expanded on as a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Challenge
The event lacks a cohesive visual branding and the website is difficult for attendees to navigate.

Solution
Rebrand the event with a new and consistent visual identity that can be applied to promotional materials for print, digital, and physical merchandise.

Process
For this project, I wanted to generate interest in the conference with a bold, streamlined look by mixing contrasting typefaces and bright spot colors. The logo and implementation of curly braces throughout the branding was inspired by the graphical quality of punctuation and its contrasting presence in print—particularly in dictionary pages.
