The Ephemeral Life
A journey of discovery and filling in the gaps

The ephemeral life is an exploration of how imagery and photography can create a personal connection to a person you have never met. My story began with an analogue SLR camera that was passed down to my mother and then to me the day before I left for university. This camera belonged to my Grandfather who passed away before I was born. I had heard many stories of him over my childhood but this camera was the first direct link I had ever encountered. However, it had much more to it than I had originally known. I discovered that there was one last reel of film left in the camera (that I had guessed to have been around 20 years old) which had never been developed or seen before. A couple of weeks after finding this film I started university at Central Saint Martins where my first project was to document a journey. It was then that I decided to take a journey to discover what was on this film in a attempt to find out more about my Grandfather.

*To display this I decided to create a form of packaging and a book that is relevant to my journey.

*Special thanks to Alice Constance for taking these photographs.
