LA LEYENDA DEL CACAO
Cuenta la leyenda que Quetzalcóatl, dió a los toltecas los granos del cacao. Lo que el dios quería era tener a su pueblo bien alimentado y de esa manera poderse dedicar completamente a ser mejores hombres, estudiosos, sabios, arquitectos, artistas y artesanos.
Quetzalcóatl robó el árbol del cacao del paraíso en donde vivían los dioses y plantó el pequeño arbusto en Tula.
Ya que plantó el pequeño arbusto, le pidió al dios del agua, Tláloc, que enviara lluvia a la tierra para que la planta se pudiera alimentar y crecer.
Después fué a visitar a Xochiquetzal, diosa del amor y la belleza y le pidió que le diera al árbol flores hermosas. Con el tiempo la planta floreció y dio frutos de cacao.
THE LEGEND OF COCOA
Legend has it that Quetzalcoatl gave the Toltecs the cocoa beans. What God wanted was to have his people well nourished and in this way be able to devote himself completely to being better men, scholars, sages, architects, artists and craftsmen. Quetzalcoatl stole the cacao tree from paradise where the gods lived and planted the small bush in Tula. Since he planted the small bush, he asked the water god, Tlaloc, to send rain to the earth so that the plant could feed and grow. Then he went to visit Xochiquetzal, goddess of love and beauty, and asked him to give the tree beautiful flowers. With time the plant bloomed and gave cocoa fruits.
