Writing of publishing is not easy, the elements to be taken into consideration are many, as well as all of the approaches.
We want to talk about the book as an object which spreads the value of culture, in its dual value of concrete and abstract object, but also, and above all, highlight the situation in which the contemporary Italian publishing scene, taking into consideration the small and medium publishers: a thick undergrowth that tries to make its way on the market trying not to follow the main road of big runs, but focusing on quality.
What has changed, in the consumer society, is the meaning given to the term book that loses its cultural value in favor of the commercial one: in the great contemporary publishing the book is first of all a commodity, a Market object. There are many questions about the future of the book as a cultural object, as an interface between the reader and knowledge.
