Ollie Quinn- International Women's Day 2018

I was asked by spectacles retailer, Ollie Quinn, to participate in a project to mark International Women’s day where they exhibited the work of female artists across 27 of their boutiques. I created some new work especially for this occasion as I had several things I wanted to experiment with and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I created 9 new works in total, all collages on fabric at 40x40 cm 7 of which were used along with two slightly older pieces (the larger works on striped background). The work addressed a previous series I started in 2016 responding to abstract painting, colour looking at traces of bodies rather than representation of bodies. I found some really beautifully colour faux leather fabrics in baby pink, lemon yellow and peach melba colours- a departure from the primary colour pallet of the previous set of images in the series, bringing a softer, poppier, more playful aesthetic.

The work will be on display inter Putney boutique until the end of March- Ollie Quinn, 151 Putney High St, Putney, London SW15 1SU.
