This studio was the capstone course for Architecture Majors at the University of Melbourne during my year abroad in Australia. The studio emphasizes the development of both design thinking and dexterity with tools. The focus of the investigations of this subject was architecture in an urban context . A new learning centre complex as part of the University High School, Story Street, located in Parkville, Melbourne. The brief for this project is a facility to include a new sports department, library, and a general learning area for senior students. The site is a 30 meter by 60 meter lot located across from the University of Melbourne. The main concept for this building derives from the idea of community and creation of a hub for the surrounding neighborhoods. The design of the school was influenced by specific demographic characteristics as well as the architectural

features and distinctions of Parkville, Carlton, North Melbourne, and the Central Business District located in proximity to the site. The design implements a new understanding of community learning through the emphasis on Melbourne’s pride of its art and cultural community.
