The three different finishes emphasizes the cyclical process of the honeycomb--over time the comb becomes darker
the three pieces slide into one another
PROCESS
With nature as our inspiration, we focused on three categories:
texture, patterns and movement
initial inspiration boards
initial hexagon pattern idea transforms into a lap joint connection method
created a half scale model out of foam core
since the surfaces were all the same, we decided to indivdualize each piece by creating our own legs
Testing different types of finishes on masonite
marker, clear laquer, sand paper
