RESILIENT ENVIRONMENTS_Imperia 2016
The project deals with existing conditions found in the city of Imperia and builds on the context to create a more viable, diverse and resilient environment from both an economic and social perspective. The interventions on the given site add to the existing facilities acting as multi-functional, supporting structures as well as providing sustainable solutions to energy consumption and fresh water production.
The idea for the project originated from sport facilities that are currently located on the site. Our research showed that Imperia has the potential to become a hub for sport and recreation if these facilities are expanded and upgraded. This idea developed to include the existing marina and other recreational facilities in the city as well as taking advantage of the natural context. The programme therefore developed to include sport, leisure and nature as catalysts for the regeneration of the area and Imperia as a whole.
