Card Designs- Heart, Diamond, Club, Spade.

This set of designs started with a project in high school- so probably early spring 2016. The assignment was about print making. The style was supposed to be along the lines of The World Ends with You, but... it didn't turn out that way since i had to keep it simple. A bit of the Kingdom hearts logo snuck in too... At the time, i didn't know illustrator, so embarrassingly enough this was designed in MS word of all things, thanks to the easy to use grid snapping. 

A month or so later, once printmaking was done, the class went back to its usual flow of us getting to choose our own projects, with the slight restriction that it had to be 3D. I really, really, REALLY liked the heart design, so I decided to finish out the set and eventually make a playing card house with them! Each design , in addition to being the proper symbol, includes a crown and 'wings' of some sort and finally was (sort of) centered at the circle.  

The cards themselves run from ace to king, and each suit is used three times, with one of those being the ace, queen, king or jack. The card back is something i made up on the fly with the crown from the heart and a chessboard-like boarder. 

Each  5 by 9 inch card is of foam core, with the fronts and backs attached with double-sided tape. That may sound arts-and-craftsy, but it looked pretty good! Also, the cards aren't actually attached, and the tower can therefore be knocked over quite easily. 

Years later, for a class project in fall 2017, I fixed up and recolored the designs to stick into the games. Why? Because I still really love these! If you're interested in that game, Click below to view the page for it.
