The design method for the Institute was lead by a theme which emerged from the profession itself and it progressed through a process of reverse archaeological discovery - projection, from the surface towards the inside, similar to the digging process. The facades, reveal an idea of the content, of the structure and of the programs within, though the core is much more complex.
The result is a sort of a spatial artifact taken out of an alternate reality and its original body and implemented as a foreign entity, bordered by the prism which served as a tool for its extraction where the facades are sections from the excavation.
It is located at the Kosančićev Venac locality in Belgrade, where there are two layers of archaeological structures already: the remains of the national library destroyed in the World War II and the Roman Singidunum. The new building for the institute is elevated from the site below, allowing visibility and accessibility throughout and around the location.
