Helium Cannon for Less-Lethal Projectile Development

Professor Lieu's UC Berkeley Ballistics Laboratory aims to develop safer alternatives to police and military "less-lethal" force, such as Tasers and rubber bullets.

The cannon is designed to minimize internal volume and sharp bends, as to maximize the energy transferred from the pressurized helium to the projectile.  A ball valve actuates the system and a piezo-resistive pressure sensor gathers data from varying trials.
