Skógafoss & Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck (Iceland Pt 3)

Skógafoss and Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck. 18/11/17- 19/11/17

Along the south coast we stopped of at Skogafoss, a massive waterfall with a long trekking route alongside the waterfall that feeds to and from the river Skogar, leading to Eyjafjallajokull. We spent a little time around here, looking around. Its a real disadvantage that this place is so densely populated with tourists. You could get some amazing shots if there was less people here.

after this we drove to Vik to get some food and by this time it had come to sun down and it was dark. we stopped by Skogafoss again at night time on the way back, it was super clear and I got some shots of the night sky. I was super stoked that the Northern Lights came out as well but one of my issues with my camera is focusing at night and when it came out I couldn't focus properly and and didn't get any shots that were in focus :( The only record is in the back ground of some of the mountain shots I have - In the back ground you can see a green hue / light, that's just before they came out.
As we was driving back they became more frequent and I did have multiple opportunities to get a real good photo but I chose against it. It was an incredible scene, the mountains of the Icelandic Highlands and the Aurora Borealalis in the sky above. I guess some beautiful things don't need to be replicated, or frozen in an image.

The next stop on the itinerary for the next day was the famous plane wreck on the Solheimasandur beach.
It was a long walk, to get to the plane wreck - it's kind of surreal seeing something that we value as safe (I guess not many people see broken and worn in air crafts) as a derelict, abandoned rusty shell. None the less it was intriguing. Again, a place like this would benefit so much more without the masses of tourists the flock here, whines of children and screaming parents yelling and their kids.
