PROJECT – UNTITLED
I would like to continue creating art that highlights the beauty of women, more specifically women of color, and go further in depth by translating how women act as a pillar to their community and family. I’m a multidisciplinary artist – I work with different mediums to convey a story. I mainly work with acrylic paint and I’ve been documenting my work through photography. I’ve also expanded this project with natural light portrait sessions and videography. With my interest in capturing how minority women impact our community, I hope to engage in documentary photography to give life to the women I create in my paintings. For the first time, I would also like to explore digital illustration and merge it with my photography to create captivating mixed media art.
INSPIRATION + MOOD
My intentions are to allow others to see the beauty of minority women beyond the surface. I think positive messaging is important, especially for minority groups. I hope through the exploration of this topic, that other black women such as myself gain a sense of pride, and recognize what modern culture has coined as “Black Girl Magic”.
