I took this photograph whilst the Deputy Prime Minister presented a cheque and large pig to this Kastom community for their participation in the Oscar nominated movie 'Tanna' which had subsequently increased in tourism. I wonder if they have become a victim of their own success. During my time we ate food straight from the jungle - no preservatives and that pig! Merging a macro image of tree bark with the man I wanted show the inextricable link to land and nature. I left thinking we need to learn from these communities. This image forms part of an exhibition I'm developing.
