An Identity for a digital strategy network.

“I’m a humanist that dreams of 8-bit sheep.”
That’s how Sami Kallinen, the founder of 8-bit-sheep, introduced himself on Twitter for many years. The company name refers to Philip K. Dick’s classic sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. 8-bit-sheep consults established brands with strategy, transformation, enterprise innovation, tech, user experience and metrics and needed a visual identity that connects the differing worlds of technology and humanities.

A clever little lamb, the face of a new tech player.

Clear, clean design with a bold centrepiece
Kallinen, aptly titled as the company’s bellwether, is part of the generation who first hacked 8-bit computers in the early 80’s. The logo created, an ASCII-lamb comprised entirely of Helvetica Glyphs, is the central part of this identity, and resonates perfectly within the context the company operates in.

This sheep means business.

Greek characters, commonly used in HTML and Unicode, are well-recognized within the tech community. The fittingly named lambda, 11th letter of the Greek alphabet, is positioned as the nose. The number 8 reoccurs in the lamb’s eyes as symbol theta, coincidentally the 8th letter in the Greek alphabet. As a finishing touch the infinity symbol, also an 8, is positioned as a dapper bowtie, endorsing the identity with seriousness and professionalism.
