"Self-portraits: man, culture, nature" is a cycle of twelve photographic images. Each of the twelve images is composed by three monochromatic layers (CMY); the first layer shows pictures of nature, the second layer: one of my self-portraits, and the third one is a drawing. Referring to the anthropological idea of the distinction between man, culture and nature, I decided to use my photographic works and drawings to create a kind of my self-portrait.
Self-portraits (cyan)
It turned out that since I have a camera, from time to time I do myself a so-called "selfie" or self-portrait. I always did it spontaneously, rarely but systematicly. I do not know why I did them, and still do it ... maybe it's about some kind of emotion or state that's driving me to do it. Maybe something I have to stop, to catch the moment. There must be something in them, something personal. However, just as I am "continuous and persistent in time", photography is above all a static picture. How much of "me" is in there? I wonder how much the viewer is able to pull out of a self-portrait? Is he able to get to know me? I am certainly not able to define myself only through my image, or only through what I do. I am composed of many molecules that nobody can ever see in their entirety, from all sides at once.
Nature (magenta)
I produce huge amounts of pictures of nature and the world that surrounds me. Photographs reflect my personal view of this world and what attracts my attention. Interest in biology, plants and the organic world has been developing in me from an early age.
Drawings (yellow)
I draw since I remember. Drawing is for me the basis for creating anything. Sometimes I have such a strong need to even slip a pencil on paper that if I do not do it, I can not fall asleep. This is a natural form of expression for me.
Cyan Magenta Yellow - Red Green Blue
This work has surged from the desire to use my self-portraits and the gum-bichromate technique, which allows the use of colour in photographic techniques. For technical reasons, however, I had to give up the gum-bichromate for screen printing. Through the play of light and colour, I want to introduce myself, my pictures and drawings that are also an integral part of me.
