I was tasked to create a photo frame which could house a 6” x 5” picture. I began by sketching some concept designs, deciding to make a 4 sided photo frame block, within which the pictures could be easily swapped. I began by constructing a digital prototype in ProDesktop, from which I created a set of engineering drawings to help me adjust and alter the scales and sizes of each side and joint easily and accurately. After this I laser-cut out each side, as well as a flush set of acrylic windows to protect the pictures and hold them in place. Using 2D design I created and cut the patterning on the side and top of both boxes, ensuring the designs lined up. I then sanded and finished the piece.
