Our brief was to package the 'essence' of a city, the city given to us to be picked at random out of a bag. I picked Santiago in Chile. Researching into this city I found that 70% of the population in Santiago are Roman Catholic. Using this I got a bible and cut 30% off the end - so 70% of this bible is my 'Santiago essence'.
For the inside cover I then worked on a piece of typography that explained my concept, followed by text giving each religion percentage in Santiago. This is set in English and in Spanish.

I had made the opacity of the type equal to the percentage of each religion, Roman catholic is 70% so the opacity of the type was 70%, Protestant is 15% so the opacity of the type was 15% and so fourth. Again I made this look old with teabags and sandpaper.
To then wrap my product or 'essence' of Santiago I silk screened the Santiago seal onto calico that I aged (teabags etc.) and made a belt from the same material and some old buckles.
