"Shells of Light"
This is my "Painting with Depth of Field" series.
I started out by designing shells out of metal wire and when I got to render the image ( I use SideFX "Houdini" as 3D software and "Redshift" for rendering) I set a very high depth of field value for the virtual camera. The result is a totally different image from the original shell, where one can hardly see tiny bits of the original wires since the focus is so shallow.
This creates somehow "otherworldly" images with beautiful details, lights and structures that aren't there in the original object, but are a result of the extreme depth of field.
No post effects were used, only colour correction.
The image is rendered in very high resolution (10,000 x 10,000 px) for best print results.
