Gelombang - Parametric Park Bench

A wave-ly bench design derived from the term “Gelombang” is to make the bench takes advantage of the architectural and landscape elements of Taman Tugu, Kuala Lumpur. It is design for people to interact in the park and at the same time it acts as a sculptural furniture to emphasize the aesthetic value where wave lines created by motions forming organic-like public furniture.
The idea behind this design is thick wavily lines which its appearance affects our feeling whereas the turn of the wave is performance driven. Roundness seems to be universal human pleasure as it gives a feeling that is safe and lack of threat. Curvy lines also create familiarity and comfort which reflects how visitors chill in the park. The lines are associate with nature which feels very organic and gives the sense of strong and rigid stability.
The idea behind this design is thin wavily lines which describe great for directing the eye without being annoying and create feeling of comfort and tranquility. Vertical lines used in this design is to create mood of grandeur and spirituality. The tallness of vertical and thin lines formality also gives impression on dignity.  Parallel lines of uniform width and spacing create static and orderly effects.
