Zubrowka is a concept hotel in the city center of Dublin, Ireland. The target audience are very mature, high income, eager to overpay for ego-boosting comfort characters, who couldn’t book the Shelbourne Hotel...It is a satirical environment, where everything is in surplus: give me more gold, velvet, ornament, expensive champagne in an expensive glass.

The concept is heavily influenced by the Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. Actually, Zubrowka is the name of a republic in the Eastern Europe, where the story has unfold. So the feel, together with the colour scheme, resembles the movie a lot.

Interiors and the room layouts are influenced by The Oriental Express novel by Agatha Christie. According to the brief, the existing building is a protected structure that was created in the late 18th century, and the project is about preserving the structure. Since the building is quite narrow and tall, it reminded of a train compartment car. And so, the interiors resemble a luxurious environment of a trans-european train, with some Art Deco accessories, smart design and small spaces.
A special attention went to the graphics spotted on the third floor of the existing building. This “city creatures” became characters of the Zubrowka hotel guests. The original author is unknown, but i guessed that he/she would not mind giving the creatures another life.
