- This particular illustration called for a very traditional approach, with linework emulating 19th century woodcut and etching techniques.
It was important that the design had fantastical imagery, which would reflect the surreal and dark fairytale aesthetic. The giant owl is representative of wisdom, wit and rhetoric. The maze of detail surrounding it could lead to separate stories in themselves.
