REC: Receiving Record Recommendations

for this project the design goal was to
''lower the threshold for lean-back (not hardcore) record-store visitors to wander around and receive desirable recommendations on undiscovered music’’
the system I developed I called REC, short for receiving record recommendations.
it combines an interactive display in a store along with record-racks being able to light up.

as soon as a record is placed on the record player to listen, the interace shows the record along with a tracklist and several buttons. the user can now ask for a recommendation, after which the record gets shown and the corresponding rack lights up. continuous stacking of liked recommended records makes REC gain a better understanding on who it is dealing with and therefore becomes a great matchmaker between user and the record-store its offer, which can often be overwhelming.
while listening to a record, the screen allows the user to get more info, to share his/her experience or to look at fellow visitor-reactions on the record.
